Make a walkthrough in your Navisworks files

edddison unveils a solution to make Navisworks files interactive

edddison is an add-on for Autodesk Navisworks, which lets you create a walk through the file without any scripting skills. Control your view with mixed reality (tangible objects & webcams), touch devices and tablets. Let your management and clients interact and experience your newest building.

Note: Autodesk Navisworks is a 3D-Software mainly used for BIM applications (Building Information Modeling).

What is the producer of NW saying:
“Navisworks is a project review software, which enables architecture, engineering, and construction professionals to holistically review integrated models and data with stakeholders to gain better control over project outcomes. Integration, analysis, and communication tools help teams coordinate disciplines, resolve conflicts, and plan projects before construction or renovation begins”.

What makes it special:
Navisworks can handle huge 3D files, although the render quality is not the best (visualization is not the core goal of the software). Furthermore it unveils building problems (so-called clashes) and works close together with Autodesk Revit. Once a Revit file is imported/synced it will automatically update the Navisworks file every time you make changes in Revit. So once prepared the file is always up to date.

What is clash detection?
“Clash detection allows for the effective identification, inspection and reporting of interferences in a 3D project model.”

Navisworks uses the “Clash Detective tool” to permit clash detection. It can help you reduce the risk of human errors during model inspections. It can either be used as a one-off ‘sanity check’ for your completed design work or as an ongoing audit check of the project.

edddison works with Navisworks: Manage and Simulate

Navisworks Manage vs. Navisworks Simulate. See which product is right for you.

The software comes in two different versions, although the main difference lies in only one feature. The „Clash detection and interference checking“ and „Clash and interference management“ is only available in “Navisworks Manage”

The Freedom-edition is seen apart, since it`s just a viewer and does not work with any plugins and therefore also not edddison.

The price for Navisworks Manage is $ 8195 and Navisworks Simulate $ 2095.
Perhaps in someone’s eyes this seems expensive, but to view huge 3D models, simulate clashes and prevent expensive building issues as well as problems in in the planning phase of a complex building, it is worth it´s money.

edddison is an authoring tool for non-programmers to create interactive 3D applications. edddison offers a user interface for non-professionals, simplifies the navigation and handling of 3D models.

Unity3D 5.x or higher
Unreal Engine 4.15 or higher
Autodesk Navisworks Simulate and Manage 2015 or higher
Trimble SketchUp Pro and Make 2014 or higher (Desktop Versions)
Tecnomatix Plant Simulation 15.0 or higher

edddison works in a split screen mode, where the interface is separated from the 3D display, making navigation much easier. The usage of a floor plan helps users to avoid getting lost in virtual space.

No. You can present your project using a tablet, touchscreen or use your webcam and printed barcodes.

PC with Windows 10 or 11 + supported 3D software

End user: People who have no idea about to prepare a real-time 3D application. This user group are mainly managers, client, architects, designers, marketers, sales reps and they need tools to capture the attention of colleagues, managers, stakeholders and clients and get them involved in making decisions on the spot.
Professional user: This group has technical background, like developers, engineers, visualization and media designers, 3D artists etc. Persons that usually create 3D files and realtime applications.
